me what is    the tesla bot and what can it do you're    about to find out as the tesla bot is    finally here tesla is known for making    electric cars it is so good at it that    its models have intelligence and    autopilot intelligence which allows it    to plan and follow routes and navigate    traffic however in the case of the tesla    bot it is navigating human traffic and    avoiding obstacles so with the teslabot    tesla has moved its self-driving tech    from four wheels to two moving feet in    mimicry of or homage to if you will    humans in fact during the reveal musk    explained the robot codenamed optimus    uses the same chips and sensors that    tesla uses for self-driving features the    slide shows the tesla bot will have    autopilot cameras installed on its    forehead apart from its cars tesla is    developing lots of the computers needed    for its robots so adapting it to a    humanoid is not so strange or unusual    the tesla bot can carry 45 pounds lift    at 150 pounds and run at 5 miles per    hour far slower than the speed record    set by tesla cars the black head has a    screen where you can read useful    information the teslabot is human    features because it will interact with    and be around humans but you do not have    to fear it musk said the tesla bot is    being designed so humans can run away    from it easily anyway or even overpower    it musk also said the tesla bot would be    friendly so that humans can interact    with it easily tesla uses lightweight    materials for the construction of the    body with human level hands with five    fingers and two axis feet for balance    the neck has two 4d electromechanical    actuators so the tesla bot can move its    head or rotate its head or the torso    area has another pair the arms legs and    hands each have a dozen of the actuators    what will you use the tesla bot for musk    gave an example on stage you could tell    your tesla bot to go get your grocery    from the store and leave it entirely to    the task just like you can ask apple    siri for the time of course musk focused    on the domestic uses of the robots where    they would interact with humans on a    handy level however the teslabot will    have far more intense use cases going by    the overall description of its duties    given by musk himself teslabot will    eliminate dangerous repetitive and    boring tasks    looking at another popular robot the    spot the functions of the tesla bots    start to take shape the yellow    quadrupedal robot by boston dynamics    goes where humans don't or can't go with    spacex employing a couple during its    rocket testing for example armed with    the appropriate sensors and enough    computing power to make practical recommends them for    ai however musk's warning does not seem    to have been complied with so he is    doing something along the lines of if    you can't beat them join them on twitter    musk acknowledged ai robots were coming    anyway pointing out the successful and    captivating demos made by boston    dynamics so since he can't ensure that    the robots from other companies are
