among the wealthiest    people in the world though their public    spots aren't always serious they seem to    disagree fundamentally about the    coronavirus and since they're key    players in virus treatment and vaccine    developments their disagreements have    even more weight    here's how the friction between musk and    gates started it's pretty clear that    gates isn't a fan of tesla's cars and    he's made that clear to the public    according to gates during an interview    with youtuber marquez brownlee in    february 2020 tesla had helped drive    innovation and adoption of electric    vehicles but he has recently purchased a    porsche taken musk responded by tweeting    that gates comments had always been    underwhelming but the situation really    hated him in july when gates took issue    with musk's comments regarding the    coronavirus pandemic gates slammed    musk's comments on cnbc's squawk box    saying he shouldn't talk about the    pandemic bill said elon's positioning is    to maintain a high level of outrageous    comments he's not much involved in    vaccines he makes a great electric car    and his rockets work well so he's    allowed to say these things i hope that    he doesn't confuse areas he's not    involved in too much musk and gates are    both involved in fighting the corona    virus with gates pledging 100 million    dollars to fight the virus through the    bill and melinda gates foundation and    musk redirecting tesla resources to    manufacture ventilators and working with    curework in which gates is an investor    to make a device to aid in vaccine    production but since march 2020 mars had    frequently downplayed at the severity of    the virus and strongly criticized stay    at home orders he's promoted the malaria    drug hydroxychloroquine as a treatment    said children are immune to the virus    and questioned coronavare's data then it    was reported that musk had said there    would be a close to zero cases by the    end of april 2020 but then the death    toll in the u.s alone surpassed 500 000.    musk posted several tweets about gates    in a joking manner including billy g is    not my lover and the rumor that bill    gates and i are lovers is completely    untrue    i think he hits a puff of pot before    tweeting after that in september musk    tweeted that gates had no clue about    electric trucks moreover in a podcast    interview published in september the new    york times's kara swisher asked to mask    about the juarez including if he'd get    vaccinated musky hit back at gates    saying he'd spend time with harvard    university epidemiologists doing    antibody studies and mentioning tesla's    worth with cureback musk told fisher in    an interview gates said something about    me not knowing what i was doing it's    like hey knucklehead we actually make    the vaccine machines for curemac the    company you're invested in    musk became the second richest person in    the world in november 2021. since then    he and bezos have switched places as the    world's richest according to bloomberg's    billionaires index his net worth is now    221 billion dollars    but gates is not as silent as it might    appear as he made a jabot mosque's focus    on rockets in the past but he also went    on to compliment him in a february    interview on kara swisher's sway podcast    gates said he's not interested in    investing in outer space projects like    his fellow billionaires jeff bezos and    elon musk he said no i'm not a mars    person i know a lot of mars people i    don't think their rockets are the    solution but maybe i'm missing something    there continuing on he went on to say    that he would rather spend his money on    vaccines here on earth than on space    travel gates did give musk a rare    compliment calling tesla's work one of    the biggest contributions to climate    change anyone's ever made he said    underestimating elon is not a good idea    also gates has expressed concern about    the online mania for cryptocurrencies    which musk has helped fuel in an    interview with bloomberg gates shared    his thoughts on cryptocurrencies he    noted how much energy bitcoin uses so    it's not very green moreover he warned    investors not to dump money into bitcoin    like tesla has bill said elon has tons    of money and he's very sophisticated so    i don't worry that his bitcoin will sort    of randomly go up or down he added i do    think people get bought into these    manias who may not have as much money to    spare so i'm not bullish on bitcoin and    my general thought would be that if you    have less money than elon you should    probably watch out musk later ended up    tweeting a political cartoon about gates    but he ended up deleting it shortly    afterward in musk's tweet gates was    depicted in the cartoon as the    mastermind of a coronavirus response    plan that included making people scared    looking them down and launching a    mandatory raxiom rollout the last stage    of musk's plan was a relaunch of    microsoft's discontinued mp3 player zune    which was not sanctioned by garrison    musk captioned the image soon you will    feel a strange desire for zun but he    deleted the tweet roughly after two    hours since 2020 gates has been at the    center of conspiracy theories about    coronavirus including one that claimed    he wanted to implant microchips in    people with code 19 vaccines but last    year musk shared a throwback video from    when bill gates appeared on david    letterman's show back in 1995. in the    interview the tv host made fun of the    business magnate for backing the    internet musk tweeted the tick tock said    there is a difference it's not a huge    difference you can listen to the    baseball game whenever you want and on    that letterman replies so it's stored in    one of your memory deals and say well it's    global it's free and it's accessible 24    hours a day for free and anybody can    publish to it whereas only a small    number of people can publish to the    radio right he added have and i tried    to explain the internet to people when i    was 23 24 and that's what i think what's    happening now with web3 and on this clip    musk replied to his tweets i'm not    suggesting web 3 is real it seems more    like a marketing buzzword than reality    right now just wondering what the future    will be like in 10 20 or 30 years    2051 that sounds crazy futuristic    essentially the purpose of web 3 would    be to fully decentralize the internet    thereby dampening the dominance of the    big players in technology    apparently this was the last activity    that
